hi i,m having trouble with reading/writing dvd,s.a few days ago i tried to rip a dvd using ripit4me and ever since then when i use dvd decryptor dvds will only read at 2.2 speed max and then when they have finished i use nero 6 6.6.0.16 to burn them but it will only burn at 2 x speed as well.ive had this problem before a while ago and updated the firmware for the writer to the latest one (1.29)which seemed to cure the problem but then the problem has just come back.any ideas anyone? or is the burner just about had it.
many thanx palms

Check your DMA settings haven't reverted to PIO mode.
Goto Device Manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers check properties/advanced on each channel and make sure Current Transfer Mode is set to Ultra DMA.
If the settings have reverted to PIO, change them to DMA if available and reboot.

Try going back to Device Manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers and right click the channels (one at a time) and select 'uninstall', then reboot.
XP will then reinstall the IDE channel and redetect/reinstall the drive(s) on that channel.
If there's a corruption in XP, this may well flush it out. ..... Dont forget to do both channels.
