Hi guys, just bought a new computer from MESH, came with vista and i didnt like so i thought i'll put XP back on, media centre version. Now after the install my computer is a bit laggy which i dont think it should be really as i've just bought it and it wasnt even this bad on vista! the spec is
AMD Athlon 64 X2 DUAL
Core processor 3800+
2.00 GHz, 896mb of Ram
Am i right in thinking this shudnt be laggy + the 230gb hard drive space left. Even when scrolling down a webpage it lags abit
Any ideas guys?

have you loaded the correct chipset drivers for the motherboard? I'm not just talking about graphics card etc, but the actual nvidia/via etc controller drivers.

did you format during install - u used not to be able to downgrade an MS OS but not sure if that's not the case now.
Either way, you are best to load XP as a fresh install, having formatted during the install process, then load all the correct drivers.

if you formatted during install, then it is a fresh install, you just need to sort the drivers out for xp now.

and how do i do that my friend?
sorry for my unintellicence
edit: also why's my internet explorer so slow? maybe because on installation a box popped up asking me to locate it from SP2 disk which i dont have so i located on this disk i was installing from and it worked....maybe this is the cause.?

you stated above you have 896mb of ram that's a odd number,
it's recommended for XP media centre version should have no less then 1gb.

my PC was advertised as having 1gb of ram but on system options it says 896 :S

I would guess 128MB is being used as shared memory for onboard VGA

Thanks in advance

either find out what the motherboard is, and hence the chipset drivers required, or if not visible ask Mesh what motherboard is in the pc. This will also tell you the drivers required for any onboard chipsets such as audio, lan, graphics et al.

Hi Danby, if you log into your mesh account there is a app which you can download and you have to put your SO_ number off of your invoice into it and it look auto detect all the systems parts and also gives a link for the downloads of the newest firmware for them.

Just to clarify, are you saying firmware or drivers, they are of course very different.
Sounds like an excellent tool though in any case.
