Try setting the burn speed for the ACTUAL speed of the disc, and not using "auto" or "max" type settings. High speed media doesn't have coding on the disc to tell what is max speed, and can cause this error. Use Nero Speed to test things out too.
Off the top of my head - duff media, dirty lens, hardware failure, overheating (maybe).
First thing to try would be a different brand of discs, IMHO.

I agree . What media are you using ? .... PCE errors normally mean that the laser cannot adjust it's power to the media inserted. If you're using cheapos, try some Riteks ;)

Can also happen (incorrectly) on some versions of Nero on some of the latest drives. If all else fails, update Nero.

it means it can't caliberate the disk speed, so try writing at 1x & work from there.

had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, ritek go4s,latest software and firmware burnt over 1000 discs with the asus (same as pioneer 105 i think) worked ok at 1 and 2x but power calibration every time at 4x. the last thing i tried before scrapping it was take the lid off and cleaned the lazer with fluid and a cotton bud, works like a dream now, but
as stated above its just a case of trying one of many things and the one that is going to work will probibly be the last one!
