I'm looking to replace my now prehistoric PIII 600 with a more up to date model. I'm needing something that can handle large quality scans which I intend to work with on Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to produce artwork. I was looking at soething around a P4 3.06 with 120gb HD. Is image editing more ram and processor hungry or shoud I get some sort of graphics card in lieu of the high spec. processor?

What would be the recommended minimum spec processor and RAM?

If your going to look into a p4 the one you mentioned would be fine. But get the 800fsb, not 533, Ram will play a photoshop is a memory hog, get a good board that supports dual channel memory such as abit IS-7 or IC-7. Go with corsair memory (dual channel) xms series recommended.

Any more info on the dual channel memory - is this RAM and how do I tell the difference?
