service code 16

I have an old xbox, when i switch it on i get service code 16.

i understand this is a dashboard error, how can i sort it ?

What mod do u have in it? Any games on the HD? I would suggest using evox hd utility to restore the hd back to a usable state.

it has a cheapmod in, no games on the original hard disk. So should it boot up from an evoX dvd ? then replace the files via ftp ? - will the files off another xbox be ok ?

i tried to boot from a evoX dvd and it won't. still goes to the service code 16 screen flickering. checked the dvd on other xbox and boots fine so dvd is ok.

thats strange- if its not booting the disc seems to me the bios is knackered.

could it be that the one of the wires from the modchip have come loose?

what happens if you turn the chip off?

it does not have a disable facility, but it is one that slots onto pins, so when i remove it and try it. i get no video or sound so i don't know if it has loaded or not...
