Why won't my flashed 360 play NTSC or XBOX1?

My flashed 360 won't play Xbox1 or NTSC backups. Is this normal? Do I need to update it somehow?

If your 360 is a PAL version then no it wont play NTSC backups, it'll only play PAL or Region Free games, as for Xbox1 backups they all need to be re-ripped from the original's and burnt on dual layers so they are compatible with the 360

Nope just on single layer DVDs. I thought it was like the PS2 where you could play PS1 games.

Mine is a samsung drive - Does it depend on the type of flash it had? Mine was done a while ago.

You do for 360 games. I'm not sure about Xbox 1 games with the new firmware, but it has single layer support.

I can confirm that single layer dvds for xbox 1 work with 5.2 samsung firmware

xbox 1 orignals play on mine but i cant get backups to play and mines a samsung 5.2 firmware

Is there any way I can find out what version mine is? Or upgrade without reflashing?

The only way to check is to read the flash from the drive (unless the person that modded it knows which version is on there) and the only way to upgrade is by reflashing.
