You need to have an edonkey client installed such as edonkey, overnet or emule. Then if you are running IE you can basically just click the link. Otherwise you can just copy/paste it.

What client are u using i.e emule,,edonkey or overnet??????Each one takes some configuring??But if u say you have a red bar next to the file then that means there are no sources available for this file thats why its taking for ever if u scroll over past the red bar there is probably a zero next to it????

Yep, red would suggest no sources or at least no sources that are fully complete. Your download speed is irelivant until you get enough sources to max out your connection. Until then it is the upload speed of the other clients that determines your speed.
I would suggest that you download 5-10 files at once so as to get a decent average speed.
emule publishes to and can download from edonkey servers and its own serverless peer network Kademlia.
Edonkey publishes to edonkey servers and the overnet serverless network, but can only download from edonkey servers. This is my understanding anyway.
Overnet publishes and downloads from the overnet network which includes the above edonkey clients.
Make sure that whatever one you are using that you are not firewalled or you will have far less connections. A firewalled client can only connect to open clients where as an open client can connect to both. So open = more sources.
Personally I find overnet to have the highest average speed. Emule you spend far more time on queues, but it tends to have more sources. Plus overnet seems to get stuck sometimes. Like a download will be on 75.06 precent, get to 75.12 and then drop back to 75.02 repeditivly. Import into emule and the download finishes just fine.
Can't say that I have ever used edonkey or Sharazza which I think covers all edonkey clients.

Hard to say as I don't think you have yet said what client you are using.
emule it displays them by default overnet if you right click you can tick sources and it will show you next to the download progress. Both you can expand the download entry to show all the available sources including how much of the file they have, queue position, etc.
No idea about other clients.

Yes, but I have come to the conclusion (as well as being told) that I am weird.
Hmmm, was searching for a legal edonkey link so that I could do a screenshot for you, but all it came up with was barely legal (as in the porno).
Anyway one of the colums is sources. This is where it tells you how many sources you are connected to. Can also double click on the entry to see all the individual sources. Make sure that you connect to both edonkey and kad and that you are not firewalled. If you don't get any sources that way then you probably never will.

Ok m8 i use emule as i said earlier,,,,in the transfers window next to the file name is a status bar ,,if its red it means no sources available for that file,,if its light blue it means there are a few sources available for that file,,if dark blue then there are plenty of available sources .If Green then the file has been completed..You also can get blue and red in the bar meaning not all parts of the file are available.
The file you are trying to download did u get this off the site in your title???if so was it a recent release?it may be an old file and no one is no longer sharing this file hence no sources,,,The other possibillity is that the releaser may be realising it on the overnet server ,,when this happens it tends to take a couple of days after untill sources become available.......
You could also try leaving it running overnight and see if any sources become available overnite sounds strange but some ppl in different timezone log on at diff times may be the only source.
I have used emule for over a year and think its gr8 but does take some time to get used too,,,and speeds vary as celtic stated your better having quite a few downloads on the go at once to keep speeds up.
Another option is to try connecting to another server and see if more sources come available. And to make sure when u connect u dont have a low Id

Unfortunately can take that long some times again depends on the amount of sources you are downloading from,,,unfortunately with emule and some other you wont 'max out your connection' to do that you would probably have to pay to subscribe to newsgroups or a private FTP'
