View Full Version : Why am I firewalled all of a sudden for torrents?

I've been using Azureus for ages now and have always had a good connection. Always had the green smiley faces. But about three days ago the Firewalled icon at the bottom of the screen has gone red and the faces are now yellow. Also when I do a NAT test I get a message like "NAT Error - Connection attempt to......timed out after 20sec"
Why is this?

I'm with NTL and recently had a problem with my modem which they replaced with a new one but that was Monday last week and it had been working fine up until about Monday this week.

Do I need to change any of my setting ie: ports or anthing? I use the Windows firewall and have the ports opened in that. Also my connection goes via a router so do I need to do anything to this too? I haven't in the past and it's been fine.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated please.

1) What port are you using?

2) Really you need to have the port forwarded in your router for BT.

1) Not sure off the top of my head as I am at work at the moment. It's not one of the normal ones though.

2) I think I had already done that.

As I said it had been working fine for ages. It's only just recently done this.

certain clients are blacklisted because dht can not be disabled, it might just be a banned client now. most torrents forums discuss which clients are allowed. HTH

BTW - i though you didn't do that stuff ;)

I've fixed it. I just had to forward my ports again. Think it's cos the new modem has a new MAC address etc. Not sure why it worked OK for a good week though!
