I am trying to use Stomp RecordNow Max to burn the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders that were created when converting a DVD-9 to DVD-5 using DVDRB (CCE encoding).
However, I have had two coasters now.
I was told to make a Data CD and then put in the two folders ensuring they were in capitals which I did.
I then recorded this but got a coaster. It does not work on my PS2 and when put in my DVDRom drive it says something abot the possibility of incorrect formatting.
It only opens in my DVDRewriter Drive.
I tried again, changing the settings to Disc at Once thinking closing the DVD would make it a movie.
However, same thing...a coaster.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I dont think its the recording software, sounds like a bad encode, is all the movie files in the VIDEO_TS folder?, Do you have DVDshrink on your PC, if so try opening the files on the HDD in shrink and see if it analyses it ok.

Try this out. I use this method mentioned here http://users.pandora.be/rudy.stremersch/recnow.html
I usually use "Copy to DVD" to burn the files to DVD after encoding which could be an alternative.
Good Luck.

Is there any discoloration or spotting on the discs? Have you tried another brand?

The discs seem fine. I have done a burn of a iso with Nero before which came out OK.
Want to use STOMP here though since I don't want the Volume name in all capitals.
Will give that guide ago, may have something to do with the settings?
Will post results later..

Still no luck.
When I try to open it on my PCs DVD Rom drive it says its not a supported Windows format.
But now it works on PS2.
Any ideas?

Do you have any other kind of discs lying around. If it works intermittantly like that then it sounds like bad media.

^^ I think I better go and get some new media to try then :s
But why did one disc work on PS2 but comes up unrecognised format when trying the open it in my DVDROM Drive.
But they all open in my writer drive.
This is strange.
Anyone got any links to guides for Pinnacle's InstantDisc (the software that came with my drive). Some settings like date, it does not seem to have "original date" does this affect it?

no that wont affect it, although by the description your giving it is defo the media, as your writer is reading it and your dvdrom is not, this normally happens with suspect media or unfinalized discs but the writer normaly reads it as it wrote the disc.

Which guide's settings should I use?
This one:
http://users.pandora.be/rudy.stremersch/recnow.html
Which states to use the UDF w/ joilet Up to 106 in length.. file system
(But does not mention the DVD settings found in newer versions of RecordNow Max/DX)
Or this
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87695
which says use UDF - Up to 128 in file name... file system
----------
And the volume name, does it have to be in CAPS and have no spaces?
Since the retails have spaces with upper and lower case letters and I would like mine to be the same?
----------
Also, which version of RecordNow Max should I use?
Stomp RecordNow Max 4.5
Veritas RecordNow Max 4.5
Sonic RecordNow DX 6.
Thanks in advance, jsingh7.

I would go with the Veritas Stomp Recordnow Max V4.5. I have heard that the newer versions aren't as comprehensive with thier features.

hmmmm... are the discs being finalised?
If i remember correctly, RNM 4.5 by default leaves it as an open session, go into the options and select the "track closed" option.
Sorry I can't exactly remember what it is- i don't use it anymore after i started getting conflicts with nero

I tried using the software that came with my writer, Pinnacle's Instant CD/DVD...
It works on the PC now - in my DVD Rom drive
but not on my PS2.
Will continue to try until I get it right, but I have wasted 5 DVDs now..
Its not good

If You Read Both of them 'How to Burn movie useing RecordNow DX', you will see that one of them is refereing to CDs only "Recording Type:Track @ Once (TAO). Not Closed
File system type: Microsoft Joliet- up to 106 in filename length, any ANSI char., plus DOS tree.........
The Other says same but below it says DVD----Recording type: Track at Once (TAO), Closed.....
File System: UDF-up to 128 in filename length, any char., plus 8+3 tree (Bridge)
Hope that teaches U to read them Proper.........Be good....
