:bawling: help need, i`m stuck with a problem,
a friend of mine chipped my ps2 v4 no gap board,
system starts up fine. but when i try and boot a game it just reconises it as a playstation game, and press A to play,
but nothing happens just goes back to same screen.
also when i put a dvd film in. it say `dvd player is not set up` but reconises it as a dvd video.
ive had a check round the other forums but no one else has had this same problem, i think it might have lost its memory settings, but not sure.
ive tried looking for a dvd utility disk download to up date it but have had no luck.
if anyone can help would be most appreciated.............

if the games does not play even thoi it recoize it... it's either in the wrong mode or there's a lose wire in your install

i`ve tried all modes including disabled,
even when disabled the dvd player wont even play an orig dvd film,
keeps saying "dvd player not setup"
we`ve checked double checked and triple checked and all are ok,
we`ve done a loads of xbox`s for years so soliderings mint and the is mint.
only thing we can think of is when we took the main board out to fit the chip,
the battery memory back up was unpluged and all settings were lost,
omly a thought.
so we need a utility disk or tool disk, some thing like, what you get with one of the dvd remote packs, as it says with them you get a driver disk to up date dvd driver from v1.20 to v1.30 and to v2.10,
but we still aint got a clue where to obtain one from or possibley download one.:)

ive tried inserting an original game today with the chip disabled, but still not boot the game,
all i get is the boot up to browser, click A to load, disk spins an loads up screen saying playstation 2 disc, with a purple disk in the middle of the screen,
press A to load, but nothing happens except loads playstation 2 disk screen.
also tried all other modes but all do same thing
even when i put a dvd film in, it comes up with dvd video- instead of playstation 2 disk, but in the middle of the screen says "dvd not set up"
carnt work it out, could it be a faulty chip, or as i thought its lost its memory when the battery backup was disconnected.
if its the case of battery memory lost is there any way to back it back up??????

i am not sure of the memory battery as i see it there but never touch it... well since you check over and over again... i would say.. de-soldier the chip out and test it like that to see if the system still work.. if it does.. then there's a problem with the install or the chip... if there's still a problem then it's the system... try that first .. and update

another thing i`ve just read. that the us verson of the ps2 doesnt require a pre installed driver to play dvd movies, so it dont require a utility disk how ever the jap, and europe ps2 consols do,
how ever it did meantion some thing about a pre-installed driver built into the ps2 memory card,
has any one else heard of this, or shed anymore light on this to see if this is ture

I had this problem the 1st time I tried to install a neo 4 back in the day I think I messed up something trying to solder it in.
The neo 4.0 never did work so I removed it and I had to jumper the track I cut I stuck in a neo 2.2 and it play all games backup or not but but I could never play dvd movies again on that ps2
