PS2 problems and backups....

My PS2 has a Neo 2.2 in it... it's a ver4 and it's been modded now for a couple of years. The problem I'm having is that the system doesn't boot up backups anymore. That is CDr backups since I've not gotten into DVDr's. It will boot everything else, original games and move DVD's but not backups. Also the CD door won't open when I do an EA boot it goes right past where it should open and just boots up. That is strange for a ver4 because the door would always open before these problems. Is it time for a new modchip? Please let me know because the system does other strange things like when it boots up a game or movie it boots to the browser screen and then it boots the orginal game or dvd...

Sounds like your PS2 is giving up the Ghost there. The reading problem sounds like your laser is dying. No idea what is causing the problem with the tray there. Do you have a gear that is busted?

No, the tray opens fine it just won't EA boot. The PS2 acts as if the modchip isn't even there. I was thinking that maybe a wire came loose but I really don't want to go inside the thing again.... :mornin:

did your playstation fall? mine did once and the ribbon that connects the power and eject buttons to the system came out. but of course this doesnt help you much so sorry.
Does your ps2 still play purple back ps2 games?

Yeah... it still plays any DVD or original game, CD or DVD game... It has been dropped at short distances when it was moved so it could be that but when I go to open the tray it opens fine. It's just when I try to do a boot otherwise it does not. Like I say it's as if the modchip isn't even there... very odd. I guess I'll have to open it anyway.... :saywhat:
