Dirty water? LOL
Try putting a filter in between the line?

For the dishwasher, after she has cleaned the worst of the mould off, run one or two cycles (no dishes) with a cup of just vinager poured inside, to help clean and finish the job.
About once a week, or ten days, (especially if the machine is used daily), pick up some citric acid crystals from your local drug store, and fill the soap dispenser with them.
Run it through a complete wash cycle. This helps to keep the interior clean, and odor free.
Good luck,

Run a bleach cycle. Add a cup of bleach to the drawer, and run on the normal cycle.
Then run a quick wash with water.
Loads of mildew, muck etc etc will build up. A 'bleach' cycle will help, the suggestions above will also help but IMO bleach is the only one that will actually kill any bugs etc

And any unsuspecting family members who get a cup full of the stuff :)

I know it sounds crazy but one of the home remedies for hard to remove stains in dishwashers is that powdered lemonade (ie Countrytime). My mom uses that from time to time when things get really stained in the dishwasher and it comes right off.

you forgot the iron m8 :)
personally, as I live with an ex-chef, Iown the kitchen and all the relevant cleaning processes that go with it. Don't have a dishwasher and that suits me fine as it gives me 15 mins or so of peace every night on my own.
the rest of the house is her's.... but of course the garden is mine, and all mine, especially the hammock.
