They are network connections - Does anyoneelse use your PC? They are mappings to other data areas if you are unsure right click on them and click disconnect reboot and see if they re-appear again. If so post back

I cannot disconnect them. When i rightclick the icons i dont get a disconnect option. I can only open it and when i click to open i get an error saying the following

'//TRO-PS-S-6/datasrv is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions

The network path was not found'

Nobody else uses the computer. what do i do?! At the moment i have sent all of them to the recyle bin and after rebooting they did not reappear again. They look like shortcuts to me. Should i get a firewall now?!

Thanks for replying,

Are these network connections harmless? Or does some weedy hacker out there know everything about me and comp?!

They are/were Network Connections, as Gooner said above.

If you have deleted them, you shouldn't have any problems.

What is the history of the PC ..... it could be redundant stuff that has been on it for years (maybe a previous user ?) .... if not, do you recognise the names Brenner 6 etc.?

Did you buy this computer or build it yourself?

and if you dont have a decent firewall get one (i prefer sygate)
norton antivirus wont stop you getting hacked

I prefer zonealarm. So does one of best known hackers.

to answer everyones questions...

The network connections were on what i can only describe as a brandnew laptop. Its under 1 month old. Nobody else uses this laptop apart from me. I do not recognise 'Brenner6'. After noticing the network connections i immediately sent all of them to the recycle bin and searched for 'brenner6' on google to find out what the heck it was. Google found nothing relevant of course.

Iv now deleted the network connections completely and installed Sygagte personal firewall. Seems to be working perfectly fine. im not going to bother with Zonealarm because that has given me headaches in the past.

Thank you for your replies. I guess i will never know who brenner6 is...

Now that I realize you bought the system the reason is simple....Those are the network shares the manufacturer of your laptop accessed to install the software and test your laptop. Other then the fact that they didn't clear it before they shipped the laptop there is nothing to be so concerned about.

I have to agree with Qwerty on that one - seems the only viable reason
