The Sharp is very highly thought of.
Try and see them both in the flesh

Try and see them both in the flesh

This is the best advice full stop when buying a new TV.

Don't even think about spending hundreds of pounds on something online until you have done this as it could be one expensive mistake that you will have to live with for years. Take your shortlist first to a good TV shop and let your eyes be the judge and not anyone elses. :)

I would have to agree with Lazza. But if it was my choice, I would favour the Samsung up to 32 inch, anything over that, it would have to be a plasma. Probably the Panasonic Viera.

This site might help you decide whether your choice should be LCD or PLASMA.

Hope this helps.

LCD – Loses contrast ratio when viewed from more than 45° angles

That is no longer true. I have a Samsung that is rubbish from the side but a newish Sony that is perfect up to 180°

best one in the market is samsung

when you see a xbox 36o or ps3 they use samsung in the stores

sharp is good to but is expensive in repairs and its gone a bit downhill now

Gadget show this week (repeated on Saturday dinner time) has a main feature about LCD vs Plasma, the best LCD they say is a Samsung (for under £1,000)

in the debate of LCD vs Plasma, it ended as a draw

just to back up plonky, my LCD is viewable from any angle, and the picture quality is perfect, i think watching through a digital HDMI connection helps that though

Sharp is better resolution - 1920 x 1080 as opposed to samsung 1366 x 768.

For this reason I'd go for the Sharp as it's true HD.

I've seen a few of that model sharp in action and look great with Xbox 360 or Sky HD.

there are new samsung models out that are 1080p (true hd)

personally i recommend samsung, xbox360 and hd-dvds look great on it!

the older models will drop in price, so if you are going for an older model shop around as these are bound to be reduced!

before buying go to the shop take your best dvd movie with you
and play them on both and see which one you like
