Re installing operating system.

Son got a PC from PC World.No discs come with it.If he has to change or wipe the hard drive for some reason how does he re install the operating system.

I should try contacting PC World and asking them If there should have been a recovery disc in the package.

To fresh install an OS, you'll need to have a bootable setup disc for that OS and also, to set the CD/DVD drive as the 1st boot device in the BIOS. Drivers for the hardware are also needed to complete the installation.

The system recovery CD as Ken mentioned is the best option to reinstall Windows on the machine.

Look at the installed applications. Alot of new machines from large OEM's are shipping with a recovery app that allows you to burn your own recovery or OS install media.
