Hi all!
Bear with me...!!!
Whenever I start my PC and goto windows, the system informs me that it 'Cannot load users default profile - Insufficient system resources'. Sometimes a single reset makes it load fine and other times it repeats this ad nauseum.
When it doesn't load I'm presented with a 16 colour 640x480 screen. Although windows loads, no gfx drivers are loaded and I cannot run anything - no quota available is the error message (I have no quotas set on any drives)
When I go into safe mode, it's loads as I would expect safe mode to load. 800x600x256 colour.
The first thing I did was uninstall the chipset drivers (Nforce 4) along with the graphics drivers, reset into safe mode again and re-install them. A reboot and then everything boots normally. I powered down and booted up again with no problems.
Great I thought. I've sorted it.
The following day, the computer is back to it's old tricks. This time I decide to create a new profile and then copy my old profile settings into the new profile. So into safe mode I go, do the biz and then reset. Everything runs fine. Perhaps a corrupt profile was the problem?
Today, the computer decides to wind me up again! Same old same old...
My computer dual boots with Linux (although the computer was doing this before I set up the dual boot) and when selected, Linux always boots up first time, everytime. This prompted me to veer away from thinking this could be a BIOS set-up problem or simple BIOS battery problem)
I have ran check-disk and no errors were found.
I have defragmented the C: drive.
As far as I am aware (and I'm very particular about this) my computer is virus, trojan, spy and adware free.
The only common denominator seems to be that when it messes up, I reboot into safe mode then reset. Windows boots normally then.
I have had this XP (SP2) installation since October 2005 and kept it meticulously. Nothing starts up at boot time other than what I have given permission to. Services I don't use are turned off and once it boots, it flies like a still brand new installation!
Do any of you people have any idea's as to what is causing my problem???
Please!!!!!
It's doing my head in!
