games freezing

Most of the backups on my sons modded 360 are locking up during gameplay, some within a short space of time, the backups are on verbs, anyone know what I can do to stop this, is it possible to install the game onto the hard drive rather than play from disc(maybe a silly ? but I need to ask)it really is spoiling his xmas as he has no games that will play through. Another ? I need to ask is if he was on Live with an original game should he accept updates or will this affect the hack/mod thanks a lot for your replies.

so what is the problem then, as it's modded I don't think m$ will be too pleased to recieve it :(

Does it lockup with orginals, if not then its something to do with the the flashed side of things,

what are you using to burn the discs (software -hardware and firmware) or did you source elsewhere, what 360 drive do you have, do you know what firmware is installed, did you do it yourself or brought elsewhere, all these questions need answering

pioneer 110d, verb dl, not sure of the drive or firmware as i bought it modded from a member of bst, don't have originals so don't know, there is a switch to toggle the mod on/off if that helps. thanks for the response.

I have tried taking the hard drive out and one of the games that froze worked this being the case, I searched around and found some advice about clearing the cache, I am unsure though if this would affect the mod, the person who I got the box off is unavailable at the minute therefore I cannot ask his advice:( thanks again to those who respond.

unfortunately after 30mins(longer than before)the xbox has froze again with hd out:( this is driving me nuts:( and my son:(

Do you have any arcade games you can try, if it still does it on these i would say the 360 is overheating and freezing and you should get in touch with supplier who did it, if not then its deffo got to be a media or burning problem, and you are using the latest CloneCd for burning? at 4x, sometimes 4x burning can be better than 2.4x with certain drives esp if Samsung drives

if its anything like mine was then its nothing to do with drive or media - changed laser and media on mine - in the end kept freezing like mad - garbled screens all the time and eventually 3 rings - took everything apart and it worked again for a very short period - then slung it out of the window (well it wont annoy me now will it :( )- just 1 of the unlucky ones i think
should have realised that it was naff because it used to crash on original games as well before it was flashed

I have used 5.2.9.1 clonecd burning at the lowest speed, all the games I have will play, some for longer than others going out now to buy a new original to give the lad something to go on, hopefully it will not freeze, could be bad media I've ordered some new verbs which should arrive tomorrow in the meantime I hate the feckin box and realise now I should have went for a wii :D

OK news update, the console is fecked and is being replaced, it seems The PHONE GUY is right and the machine is in fact heading for the 3 rings scenario:(thanks for the replies.
