One of the big players is offering this solution for a price and has outraged alot of people.I think we will see a cracked version soon lol...

I believe the rumour now is that maximus will release without charge.
Hope so, and I hope he gets back some good karma.

I presonally don't mind donating to the worthy causes.... I know many wouldn't, but it would be nice to think he'd get a few quid out of his hard work.
Maybe individual use a few quid and the big boys who do a lot something a little more Christmassy :-)

I wouldnt mind paying for it etc aslong as you get updates etc...
Looks like it does the other drives aswell....
I reckon you will need to use the Slax cd to get it to work though..
As the v78s cant be seen with connectivity kits ie go into mode b

Only reads the key for the moment not able to write it. Maximus is said to be releasing the full version tomorrow just have to wait another day.

I've tried the one that Xecuter released but I can't get it to read a flash successfully. It looks very easy to use though, on about the same level as Birdy's flasher app.

the 2500 amount being charged was Mexican Pesos as the guy who made the software is Mexican which works out at around £120 so I'm not sure why people were so outraged the guy bricked a few 360's doing it and there are a lot of 360 modders out there who could get that money back flashing just 2 or 3 consoles.

Done one drive with this today, works great.

You'll need Slax v2 LiveCD to get the drive into ModeB - http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/xbox360pc/dvd/p_slax2.0_alpha1.iso

and some kind of SATA port or usb to sata adapter.

There have been nothing but 78's in my town for about 2 months now.
Wanted to give a 78 a bash so went down and got one from Argos today. Just stripped it and despite being Sep 20 Lot 0635 on the box it's only a 59 f/w in the box.

Oh well I can live with that LOL.

Ive flashed my v78's on the same card as iam using to do the ms28's on a via 6421L card or 6421A will do the same job also

When you run slax v2 it pisses past very quickly all u have to look for in the 1st 10 secs is that u can see

drive in mode b thanx to kev same as the other you do not need to let it go far before u eject the disk

slax2 don't work for me, slax1 does though so abit stumped why slax2 don't, anyone who has slax1 can you try slax1 on a 78f/w just to see if it still gets the drive into modeB, thats all i want to know, would be most helpfull as i ain't got a 78 here yet and don't want to accept them if i cannot do em

well i use the same setup as slax1 so disable my onboard SATA controllers and plug the sata connection into SATA1 and use slax1 and it works, with slax2 i do the same and i get the startup screen where you press F1, i then get two lines of txt and the screen just goes blank, nothing shows up on it, its weird, anyway i've seen a guy over at xbox-scene saying his slax1 cd flashed a 78 so have pm'd him to confirm, but thought i ask here as you chaps are more friendly, lol

Done a drive swap today samsung to hitachi...

Flashed new key into hitachi and changed the ID to ms28.
After that it wont be seen in the toolbox program as it thinks its a samsung lol

I put it back in the system and it gave the open tray problem so I just reflashed with 8 in 1 and it worked a treat

This may sound silly but when u boot up ya pc have you tried pressing F11 to choose boot device instead of altering it in your bios to boot from ya slax ?

Burpy you can also use SLAX 1 to get the v78 drive into mode b
ive used both via 6421a & sweex pci sata card sil 3112 chipset both of these work for me on v78's

I've got a quick questions about the Toolbox 3.0 and mode B for the Hitachi 78fk. I've flashed over 25 Hitachi's with 78fk on them, but came across one problem. I flashed one 78 to test on my 360 rig that originally has an ms25 Samsung. The drive key and spoofing injection went great and it works on my system when i was done, but when it came back to reflashing it with the proper firmware hack and original drive key, i could no longer get it to go back into Mode B no matter what i tried! Other 78 Hitachi's would pick up back into mode B with no problem (being as i haven't spoofed them or injected my system's drive key of course! Anyone had this problem? My setup is using Slax 2 alpha 1 and the VIA Pci SATA card. Tried both versions of the connectivity kits for power but stuck with using the 360 console to power the drive instead. On the connectivity kit v2, i would get the black screen while attempting to boot Slax 2 and i could see from how the drive acts, that it is in mode B, but unfortunately, my PC has no reset button so powering it off will disable the mode B for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Simple problem....Got this on the first day toolbox was out..

Toolbox cant see it any more the coz its a ms25 now :)
It cant see a hitchachi only a samsung!

I think you are screwed until a fix comes out for tool box.

The only way round it at the moment is to remove the chip and manually despoof it..
