step 1 of taking 360 (samsung m25) apart achieved.
step 2 of putting via6421a SATA card in PC and loading drivers achieved.
step 3 of putting white cable from 360DVD drive (that went into the main board of 360) into connectivity kit PCB achieved.
step 4 of editing MTKFlash to recognise the via6421a SATA card.....OUTSTANDING!!!!
I'm stuck at step 4 because I think there are 2 ways to do it and both confuse me...
a) use "Xtreme Boot Maker" software to make the edited flash for me, but it looks like I need a file called "Xtreme firmware" to use it. Does anyone have a known working copy of this for a samsung m25 that I can have? (kids xmas present and time is running out, but i cant risk ruining it).
b) injecting chipset hex values into MTKFlash using Hex Workshop software. This all goes way over my head-lol

cheers. I've read so much that its all becoming a blur, thats why I'm trying to do it one step at a time (someone said on one post that its so easy, a monkey could do it-lol)
anyway, i got as far as opening "MSInfo32.exe", and looking for 8 bytes for MTKFlash to recognise my chipset. It didnt open with the suggested heading name of "Serial ATA" heading, but "VIA VT6421 RAID Controller" instead.
Name VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
Manufacturer VIA Technologies, Inc.
Status OK
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3249&SUBSYS_32491106&REV_50\2&EBB567F&0&53
I/O Port 0x00009800-0x0000980F
I/O Port 0x00009400-0x0000940F
I/O Port 0x00009000-0x0000900F
I/O Port 0x00008800-0x0000880F
I/O Port 0x00008400-0x0000841F
I/O Port 0x00008000-0x000080FF
IRQ Channel IRQ 5
anyway, I can understand how to get the first 4 bytes and have made that "06114932"
the second 4 are more tricky. I've read that you take the 1st and 3rd IO port lines, but they must have a difference of 7.
I made this "00980090", but I cant understand hex, so dont know if its a difference of 7 or not?

thank god for that, no wonder it was all getting a blurr!!!!
so if i use extreme bootmaker, does anyone have a link to a known working copy they use and the "Xtreme firmware" thats needed to go with it? (I wanna be sure that if it doesnt work, its my fault and not the software)

irc is very easy to use
www.mirc.com (http://www.mirc.com) - download, install, run
it'll come up with a box to connect to server. connect to efnet.
type /join #xbins
when you're in, type /msg xbins !list
it'll send you ftp login details, use flashfxp or another ftp client to access the server
xtreme42.rar is the current release for samsungs
