right guys can you pros give me a few pointers here, ive read and read an got a few tutorials all of which i could probably follow and get a result but i would like to know the easiest and most reliable method. i have just bought a via based 6421 chipset card from ebay so hopefully that will do the business i also have a conectivty kit so will that put the drive into mode b ? would you reccomend using x360sam not sure wether my drive is a 25 or 28 . and what are the issues with the live update giving error commands i know its something to do with changing a 25 to a 28 and the 360 detects this as not being the correct drive. and i assume the latest firmware is still 4.2. Thanks for your time chaps

You can use the connectivity kit to power a Samsung but it will not put it into mode B. Anyway to be honest thats irellevant as far as the Sammy is concerned.
Advice, such as it is... use the Sata connection on the back edge of the card (if sitting in PCI slot the one facing your internal drives). If MS25 you're all good to go. If MS28 follow MP3BOYS excellemt advice 3rd post down on this thread.

thanks mate, looks like we have the same card, did you need to hex edit mtk flash or did you get the pre edited version for the via chipset ?

Try and get a pre-edited copy of mtkflash for your card if you can - if you've got one that's been pre-edited for that chipset, it should work. I've got one I edited for the ALi card from svp.co.uk if anyone needs it.
Hex editing isn't that bad once you've done it and know what you're looking for. There's a good guide with pictures on xbox-scene.
