I flashed my drive and I have tried a backup that I know that works and it doesn't.
I used the xtreme.bat in dos to flash my drive, and the slax cd to get it into mode b.

Hmm its seems you may have used the wrong flash by the sounds of things
you seem to have done the 1st part right by using slax to get the drive into mode b

You should be using Maximus-Garyopa XTRM-HITACHI_v2.3 Stealth 8 in 1
the command then should be FLASH23S.BAT then the drive letter of the rom , then any four figure number like this

FLASH23S.BAT D 1111

This command will create a folder the main directory with 5 files inside it

Hope this helps try and find the 2.3 version it as there is a restore command for you to use aswell so u can try again

If reflashing doesn't work, check that:

1 - the drive's not full of dust
2 - the backup was burned on a hitachi compatible writer (pioneer 108 or above are best)
3 - the disc is a decent brand (ie Verbatim)

sounds like you'll need to use a computer running winXP 32 bit version instead of 64.

I have tried this and used with windows xp 32 bit and it loaded but it didn't detect the version of my drive. I have flashed it before.
I tried restore.bat but that didn't work that didn't work either, it prints out aty the end the 3 things I should try is the drive detected by windows etc,
i know it is because I have tried the xtreme.bat flash and it seemed to work and that flashed my drive but obviously didn't work since my xbox dont play backups

sounds like you're using the wrong drive letter

the D in FLASH23S.BAT D 1111 should be whichever drive is the 360 one. it's almot never actually D.

ie if your 360 drive was detected as g:\ it would be FLASH23S.BAT G 1111

same for restore:

restore.bat G
