Hi well here goes just moved the old Pc to the spare room
to network with the one in the livingroom switched on and bang the power supplie was toasted replaced it and started comp up and get power to the prossesor fan and that is it no post test nothing any ideas is the motherboard or prosseser burnt out as well ?http://209.68.11.129/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

could be either, both etc. no way of really knowing without testing the items individually i'm afraid.

from experience and logic, the first thing to go will be the mobo though.

Cheers mate well the prossesor is toast the motherboard is ok but a dinosaur nead new one and it also took out the Cd rom and Hard drive just my luck Have to invest in a surge protector

theres a new surge protector in argos that even in a power cut it will keep your pc powered for 30min so you can safely shut it down.i got one 3 days ago and with the thunder storms we had the power went twice but the pc kept going.there around £70 but wel worth it in the long run.
