3 ROD with 0102 error bring back to walmart

I heard that walmart will take almost anything back without a recipt.
I got this off ebay and it dosen't work and since warenty is up I think
microsoft want like $130 to fix it.It has not been opened.

Does anyone have any experience bringing stuff back to walmart without a recipt and getting an exchange of something? Think it might work if I say I got it as a gift or from a raffle or something?

I have the original box and everything it came with.

Don't know how it works over there but here if you said it was a gift/won etc (ie it wasn't bought from that store) then you'd have no chance of getting them to take it back. Just either say you bought it and can't find your receipt, or if it's in decent condition, you could try buying a new one, swap them over and take it back.
