360 'updates'?

Hi all.

I'm a bit confused about the xbox360 'updates' that people are taking about.

I'm not on Xbox Live and have not ben asked to 'update' my 360 by any of the games I've currently played - although I am waiting on a few of the new ones that seem to be causing people problems.

When I try to play GOW, Pinata, or COD3 (When I get them) - will the games ask me to update my 360? If so, what should I do - select to update it? Will it be able to update it from the game dvd or can I only do it through live? As I said, I haven't got LIVE, so am I gonna have probs with these new ones?

As you can see - I am a trite confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

They will probably ask you to update and if you refuse the update then you won't be able to play the game. It should be fine with the game updates applied. The Fall update is the latest major one and you'd only get that if you were connected to Live.
