Hi. My mate has just rang me up saying hes having a problem with his PC. He installed some spyware (bullguard) and since restarting his PC, all he has got for every sreen name is 'loading personal settings' when he tries logging in. Does anyone know why this is happening, and, more importantly, how to stop it? Im completely miffed

Thanks :)

don't know "bullguard" and they may say something about it as it's not a normal name we hear everyday.

my advice is boot into safe mode and uninstall it. then see how the PC works. if ok then load spybot or adaware. if still not working ok, do a system restore to a few days ago

Ok thanks for that :) What if he doesnt have a restore point? Is it a reformat job? Im going round to check it for him tomorrow :)

First see if it first boots when you uninstall it, if all else fails you can always just do a repair install. But that should be your last resort.
