Hi,
does anyone know what Asus motherboards have for a warranty? I think my motherboard has packed in, the place where i bought it about 18 months ago states that Asus motherboards have a 3 year warranty. They do not have my board (K8V-X) but they do have this one, ASUS SKT-754 K8V-VM S/V/L M-ATX 1600MT/S (http://www.proimagecomputers.co.uk/Shop/Product_Details.asp?DP=19085&RP=0&BSP=0) Its as close to mine as i can see and like i said, all Asus motherboards on this site have 3 year warranty, i was wondering if that is the standard for asus boards and who do i go to to have it tested? When i bought my board did it have the same 3 year warranty?

Thanks,

steve.

As you can see on this page (http://support.asus.com/repair/repair.aspx?no=201&SLanguage=en-us), all (retail) Asus mobos bought after 11/1/99 should have 3 yr limited warranty if the serial number sticker on the board is not removed.

Thanks m8, board was bought in feb 2005.

How does this work? i take it back to place where i bought it, do they give me a repacement? or do i have to wait until its been tested. What constitutes a limited warranty with a mobo:confused: all its ever done is sit in its case lol, never been over clocked or smashed with a hammer.:)

Will give the place a ring saturday afternoon.

By the way, it was working fine yesterday, then i decided i was going to install a new sata HD. Did that ok switched on and nothing, no posts from the mobo. Though faulty HD so conected up my old HD and same problem. Ive stripped mobo right down and rebuilt checking all conectors and so on. Swapped memory, tried another HD with XP already on it.

The only thing i notice when i power up, is the LED that indicates HD activity on the front of the case is constantly on as if there were HD activity?

Alright, of to bed, 3.20 am here.

steve.

You'll need to contact the place where you bought the mobo for warranty. They'll test the board and will let you know if they'll replace or repair the board or return it to you or charge you the repair cost if the problem is found to be your fault.

If the place you bought the mobo is not in business anymore, you'll have no choice but to contact Asus customer support.

You need to try clearing the CMOS first (remember to disconnect the PSU from AC).

Thanks m8, i've cleared the cmos as that was the last thing i did to try and recover the system.

cheers,

steve.

Update,

Contacted the place of purchase and was told. They cover the first years warranty, Asus cover the second or third year. I dont know if thats correct but from what ive been told its probably right with a limited warranty.

Have filled in the necesscary forms on asus's web site, waiting for reply. 48 hours normally for response.

Will update again when theres more.
