Just though id post this to save someone some hassle, flashe a friends pioneer 107d with the supposedly v1.13 firmware and when duplicating a dvd back up found that when u play the film it goes straight into the movie without displaying the menu first!. Took agaes to get head round what was doing this, when flashed it to v1.12 the dvd played fine so be warned all!. Dont know if anyone else tried this?. Also tried that 8x for all firmware and found the movie skipped a bit so think it would be wise to stick to the v1.12 firware at the moment.

Someone else thinking of using this firmware!

Can't really see how a firmware would effect the first play setting.

Couldnt believe it either m8, but it did and that was using nero 6 ultra edition like I said it was fine after flashing it to v1.12, I was round there a total of 6 hours so I was most fed up with it m8

Possibly media issue (can't read part of disc that contains the menu?)

I can't see how a firmware update could alter the authoring in such a specific way.

Unless it's some bizarre incompatibiltiy between Nero and that firmware release. I've had no trouble with it.

its not a media issue because if u press menu on the stand alone dvd player the menu comes up, just plays the film when u first put it in!, weird I thought

Which version of Nero do you have?

I know Herrie's hacked 1.07 firmware on the NEC2500A brings up some weird problems with 6.3.0.3 (I think the latest is 6.3.1.6?) such as power calibration errors, incorrectly-written lead-outs on +R media and other funny things, which don't happen on the earlier 1.06 firmware with the same software. Updating to the latest version of Nero fixes these faults.

Perhaps it's a similar deal with the 1.13 firmware of the Pioneer?

My newest 107 has the 1.13 firmware and what your explaining dosen't happen with mine, Anyhow out of curiousity though why did you try updating the firmware in the 1st place? Theres a good old saying, If it ain't broken then don't fix it.

updated firware because i flashed it with that 8x for all and wanted to revert back m8, didnt check which version it was with the writer first, p.s cant update nero due to certain circumstances!. Its nero 6 ultra edition though m8

Are some movies not set to do that anyway? I have bought a few originals that went straight into the film on my standalone and DVDwritter.

Could also be the players resume/memory function.
