quicktime probs please help

something went wrong with quicktime.would not open or anything now i cant run things like ipod and camera apps.(cant upload pics).tried uninstall but gets so far then says fatal error during instalation.tried repair.wont do that either.tried to download again and install.same probs.any help please or will i have to format.(seems drastic).also tried system restore.
