I have a MSI 8x DVD Burner. Only a few months old.
My Films are starting to freeze/jump in my standalone players.
I was using dvd decrypter so i tried nero 6. got the same result.
Then tried diferent media and still the same.
Tried burning at 2x instead of 4x, still the same.
The Question is, Is my Burner Fecked?
Thnx

Need more info,
what media were you using and what media did you change to?
are you burning on the fly or from an image?
do you regularly defrag your HDD?
and finally are you doing other things on your PC while burning?

Hmmm.
Are there running on the latest firmware for the drive? MSIs are based on Optorite technology and the early 8x Optorites had some issues with media compatibility which were mostly ironed out later.
Are you running the latest version of Nero? Early 6.x.x.x versions were buggy, particularly with 8x hardware -- later versions are a lot better.
Finally, although I know you've tried different media, Princos are renowned for bad batches which can freeze and skip on some picky DVD players. Riteks should be OK, but there have been some very dodgy Ritek discs released out into the market recently and it's possible you got some of those -- what brand were the Riteks?

have searched high and low for the answers.
found these out. ide cable was wrong type(maybe) dma was not enabled.
have now fitted new ide cable(80wire jobbie)
also updated msi drive firmware to latest version
also replaced the maxtor hdd with a seagate one(maxtor was well noisy)
will look at nero. dvd decrypter gave the same results to nero.( so think it was more hardware related.)
will give it a try one i dl some stuff :D
thnx for the help guys
