hi, i've just ordered one of these myself. the video needs to be the mp4 format, there are various prgrams which will do this for you, but it can be time consuming

The one that i thought worked quite well was ulead video toolbox 2.0 it takes about a minute to convert a video (50MB)

Yep Video needs to be in mp4 format :)

Try this freeware tool for converting

My m8 bought an 80Gb ipod from the US to play dvd files and did not know u needed to convert the files to play on the ipod. I tried the link above but it is dead.:( Can anyone confirm what is the best (free if possible) software he needs to do this??
Thanks:)

videora is the best free one (search google for videora ipod)

I always use nero recode (has iPod setting) and it converts my music videos at around 100fps (will be different depending on peoples CPU speed and the codec of the original), which is about 4x

be aware that just an mp4 file may not work, it needs to be the correct codec, fps and resolution

hssc11045, does your friend often spend a lot of cash on something without reading anything about it first?
