how do you screen capture

how do you capture a moment from a mpeg/avi file, i tried to pause the file and press print screen but when i paste that image it goes black when i close the mpeg/avi file.

You need a program like snagit (http://www.techsmith.com/products/snagit/default.asp) which can capture from video sources.
It can capture particular frames etc, which is handy for screenshots, to demo disc quality etc.

PowerDVD has a capture feature, Just go into the settings / general and click on the advanced tab and select capture to file and set directory path. then its just a case of pressing the capture icon (little pic of camera) anytime you want to capture a pic.
