Knackered 360

Had to buy a new 360 last month as the one Ive had since January is goosed (started freezing, then 3 red lights and now 4 red lights).

At least I only had to fork out £200 for a core system as Ive already got all the 'Premium' bits.

Any thoughts on what to do with the knackered one ?

e.g

Sell the parts on Ebay that are working (power brick/samsung drive/composite cables/wired controller ?

Keep it for spare parts in case my new one goes the same way ?

Keep it until people (other than Microsoft) know enough about them to be able to repair them ?

(Ive already tried to take it back to Woolies with the reciept and all the packaging and accessories from my new Core - they told me I had to phone Microsoft:( )

I think if your console was manufactured before January then you have an extended 1yr warranty from MS. That is if you didn't remove the warranty sticker.

providing yove got the security sticker you can send this back to microsoft
ive had to send 2 units back for repair the error code was e74 & lights 1,3 & 4 showing general hardware failure (ie overheating) because of the same error as you , these units fooked up because they was stood on the end instead of being flat , but anyway find the free phone number for microsoft & they will send a courier out to collect your xbox in a special box you should get it returned within a week

You can send it back without one aslong as theres no trace of original as 40% of them didnt have seals.

I dont have the original reciept as I bought it 2nd hand from BST forums in January. Also the security sticker is there but its a bit messy to say the least ! (I could clean it off easy enuff)

Any chance they would still take it ? (and not charge ?)

id say youve been lucky burpy , just seems funny that both boxes that fooked up were stood on the end coinsidence ?? who knows its just my opinion that the machines cant breath stood on end with a hd fitted

ring ms it dont matter if you aint got reciept.

my 360 went tits up on me aint got receipt,rung ms asked me if id registred my 360 said no,guy said no probs we can do it now,did it over phone with him never asked where i got it from of for proof of purchase.

2 days later courier picked it up,3 days after that new 360 at my door.

worse case scenario sell it on e-bay, power supplys alone going for over £50 easy :D
