How do you power up ure 360 drive to flash

hi everyone , just wondering how you all power up ure 360 drives to flash , i use a sata ide card with a ali chipset , using this card i have to power up a sammy/toshiba drive from the command prompt so what i do rather than struggle plugging the power connectors together (where i have read that others have killed there drives doing this way).I got my external usb drive, opened it up and ran a power cable spliiter out from it and connected my connectivity kit to it and then turn on the usb drive when i want power , less hassle than plugging the connectors together when live .

I leave the drive plugged into the 360 and just swap the sata cables. For the Hitachis I power on the 360 before the PC, for the Samsungs I power on the 360 when it gets to the DOS command prompt.

ditto, but for me i have to power on 360 for either samsung or hitachi after my raid detection screen on bootup or it won't find the drive
