xbox softmod help

Sold the kit to someone on BST, I had it working so it should have been ok, now they can't get it to work.
They've copied the Splinter Cell save over and loaded the game and then the save game, the xbox crashes as it should but an error screen pops up and it wont do anything else.
I don't know what the error message is or what version of the installer is on the memory card so can't help you any further.
I've offered a refund, if anyone can guess what's gone wrong it'll save us both a lot of hassle.

he might have the patched version of the game which doesn't allow the exploit to run, the greatest hits version are all patched.

He gets a service error 7 which afaik means the h/d is timing out. Has his h/d been damaged? Is it repairable?
The Splinter Cell game was included with the mem card I sent, like I said I managed to get an xbox softmodded fine with it.

ok if this happens when he runs the exploit then I think he might have a previous softmod on there already. If this happens everytime he turns on the machine then he might have deleted something that he shouldn't have and bricked the system unless he gets a chip. Or if the drive is just dea then chipping it will be the only fix.
