Hiya guys,

I am looking to get a 360 with the firmware hack in place. I was hoping someone could tell me whether my NEC 4550A would be possible of creating the type of backups needed to play on the console.

I have found out its possible to use bitsetting on DVD+DL but not DVD+r/rw. Does this make any difference?

I am really getting confused with all this information I have been reading lately so sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.

Also if I was to obtain an image from one of the usual places would it be a simple process of slipping in a DVD+DL and burning the image using CloneCD or are there other processes that I need to take?

Thanks

I've never used a NEC so cant really help you there m8 but for the price of a Pioneer 111d these days i would buy one of them, thens its just a case of putting in the disc and burning with CloneCD, dont have to worry about bitsettings etc as its all done for you :)

Waiting for all the NEC users now to flame me :(

I think NEC writers do work, if you have a Samsung 360 drive it should be ok, Hitachi then maybe not.

As long as you've set the bitsetting for DVD+DL to DVD-ROM (don't worry about dvd+r/rw) then it's just a case of putting in a blank +DL and burning with the latest version of CloneCD.

correct, they work for sammy drives, but not or rarely for the hitachis, get the pioneer 111d and use traxdata D/L discs, or verbs, but costly.
