I have some software for my birds mac but it needs osx 10.1 to run, at present she is using 9.1. Is it possible to upgrade to 10.1. The mac is a beige powerpc and is I believe 266mhz.
I have a copy of panther, but when i try to install this the mac restarts with a blank white screen with a firmware message at the top.
sorry to be vague, not to good with macs.
any help here or pls mail:

I have now managed to get the installation started ( I set the cdrom drive to master). Problem now is that a grey screen appears with an apple logo on and the install appears to be working, although after a couple of minutes the monitor switch of and flashes out of range, the install appears to then stop.
Im using my pc monitor on the mac, although this works fine when using os 9.1.
Any further help appreciated.
