convert AVI to dvd

if i get a usb device to convert vhs to avi, how do i convert avi to dvd-r?

Moving this to the DVD video forum. Best way is with a decent MPEG2 encoder such as CCE. Once converted you can then author and burn.

There is no way that you can get DVD quality from VHS.
VHS is on a par with VCD.

Who said DVD quality?? Besides DVD specs support VCD res.

does a good job and is easy to use.

Or try a program called DIKO - uses CCE, and comes with plenty of options.

Seem to recall that when I suggested that the author rename that program AIKO (avi instead of DivX as it seemed to me that it could convert any AVI, but only DivX in AVI's and not other containers) that he said it may not handle PCM audio properly.
