I was wondering what the difference in these modchips were? I was thinking about buying a premod and don't know which one to get. From my understanding, the NME disables itself and can be used online(but the games need to be patched-->I have no idea how that works) I didn't know if the globe-360 can be taken online, but my only concern is taking retail games online(not backups)...

Any info is appreciated...

thanks for lookin' in....

i wouldn't bother, these so called modchips are just a rip off and non upgradable for flashing newer firmware code

I agree with Burpy but they are handy for M28 samsungs which dont play ball!

You can use the stealth firmware on Samsung drives

You can use the stealth firmware on Samsung drives

Is that a special firmware flash? Apparently you're saying that I can only use that with Sammy drives and not the hitachi...Is there a way to look at the box and tell which drive I will get and does it work with all Sammy drives?

The only way you can tell is by looking at the drive itself:

Seems to be a lot more Hitachis around lately in new consoles. The Hitachi stealth firmware upgrade is due any day now.

Look for info on Xtreme Firmware for more details.

Well i guess i got lucky as i just got my 360 and its a Sammy drive so i am pulling it out and sending it out to get flashed as i won't bother trying it myself as taking it apart after only a couple days was fun enough..lol

Just got 2 new Core consoles, both have Samsungs. Last 3 I got from the same place were Hitachis.

Wouldn't that be more soldering than the VCC trick though? And you lose the benefits of stealthed backups.

Hmm, not had a problem with any MS28s, some take a couple of attempts to get the timing right. This is how I do it:

1. Remove resistor, fit switch.
2. Boot up PC to DOS, type MTKflash line.
3. Connect SATA, power up 360 with switch open.
4. Hit enter, MTKflash gives list of drives.
5. Close switch then directly afterwards enter the option on MTKflash.
6. Transfer key (i use KDX42, has worked on all but 1 which i had to hexedit) and reflash.
7. Remove switch and replace with wire.
