Something like this may help :

They can be a bit of a pig to set up, depending on your Hardware, but Linksys are among the best.

If you have a Linksys Router, you should be fine.

Oh that's looks like fun, in a sad geeky way of course :)

in response to the original question, usb.......... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry wouldn't recommend usb over anything ever (apart from over serial i suppose but even then it's pushing it)

the first question to ask is what sort of distance are the devices away from each other? what 11.X version pci card and other device (router etc) are you using. are the walls of the house extremely thick perhaps? do you have other devices working ok? have you tried changing channels?

and that's just to start.

I really wouldnt recommend that range expander, I had one and they are an absolute nightmare. Crap speed and refused to support WPA

Agree with Tierra, you need to find out what could be causing the poor signal.
Building type, router location, other devices (doesnt have to be wireless networking stuff) interfering, even the position of the antennas

Try using netstumbler, that way you could see the signal strength (Windows one is just an indicator and has no measurable levels) and you could also see what the result is when you move the router etc

If you really cant improve signal you could buy another antenna to use instead of your current one

A USB2 adapter wont improve anything
