Why did you "offload" it merc?

1996 Chevy Silverado

Didn't pay for it, so not complaining. Except for the gas mileage it gets. I've spent upwards $100 a week on gas at some points.

I liked my old car, 1990 Geo Storm that got a little over twice as many MPG as the truck does.

Jesterrace
04-12-2004, 03:44 PM
No kidding. I am considering getting one of those little POS Honda Scooters that gets 90MPG because my RX-7 isn't easy on gas. It gets about 3-4MPG better than your Chevy Truck.

 i thought u guys in the US didn't care about fuel economy- with it being so cheap

p.s. I lived in thailand when i was kid for 4 years and in bangkok, the tuk tuk is the only way to get around-

admittedly i didn't actually own one, but i've now got a nissan micra (14years old ) which is about as powerful as a tuk tuk with about as much room.

its on its last legs now though- maybe i'll be able to get it through one more MOT- this is what it looks like although mine's red and got 4 doors and got a load more rust on it (in order to reduce weight ;))

the paint has "weathered" unevenly too :D

A little off topic but I have a gass guzzler too, I spend $20 bucks a week and only end up with half a gallon...wtf! I average about 12mpg...stupid f**in dirty car. With registration, gas, and insurance the vehicle costs me about $400 a month. The price you pay for the joy of sitting in traffic for an hour.

Ever heard of a tuneup? :laugh:You don't know rotary engines very well my friend. 17-18MPG is standard for a Fuel Injected 13B (non-turbo). It doesn't help that I have a tendency to test out the RPM range on the engine either. ;)

celtic_druid
04-13-2004, 03:27 AM
17MPG is only 13.84L/100km's. That ain't bad at all. I burn more than that whilst driving round the city. On the freeway I do better.

Think you better ditch the 13B and upgrade to a 26B (you know the one from their LeMans car).

If you want cheap fuel, move to Lybia. Think it was about 10-12c/L when I was there.

Mine is all stock. In regaurds to the engine upgrade, I would love nothing more but I don't seem to have the 10-15K USD lying around to be able to afford that kind of an upgrade. Eitherway though I don't think I will upgrade my car. I have decided to hold off on my modding until I get a 3rd Generation RX-7. Maybe something similar to this:

freakit...YOU HAVE MY DREAM CAR!!! That is F'ing sweet!!!!!

The next car I buy will either be the last year made of the WS6 or Ram Air Trans Am. Or a Nissan 300ZX twin turbo. I'm not much of a Nissan guy except for the 300ZX. The Altima in the pic above is my wifes car.

Its a shame they stopped making the Trans Am and Camaros.

Its a long story, but I traded a few cars to get the 68 above. I had a 85 Z28 and traded that and $800 for a 62 Impala. Then I knew a guy that always wanted a 62 so I traded him my 62 Impala for his, now mine, 68 Camaro. It wasn't much of a car when I got it. I built the motor and went through 2 trans that were pro built. I had to re-wire the entire car and put in new floor pans. I didn't mind though. I really use to be into working on cars. Not much time anymore. I always wanted to tub it and throw a 427 big block in it.

"Shanks' pony" is a euphamism for walking. The "shank" is on the lower part of the leg, between the ankle and knee.

Just thought you may like to know the origin ... it's not an Irish thing AFAIK :D

Yeah theres not a hell of a lot of choice down here in Oz we pretty much only get Japanese or Korean cars to choose from (at a reasonable price anyway)and as this was supplied as a fringe benefit to my job I didn't get a huge choice in the matter but as I said it is all expenses paid which is probably good seeing as I'm doing about a thousand kms a week now
