Nope u don't need to run them through an Xbox, providing u have a decent DVD drive in your P.C

Yeppers, if you have them already on dvdr's then you can copy them like any other type of disc. Easy peesy m8. Enjoy.

what do you mean by a decent DVD drive? haven't seen/ known any PC DVD drive that can read xbox original lmk the brand that's working for you :-) so i don't need to run the cable for my Xbox anymore :-) . Some game can't be copy directly to the Xbox HD from the xbox drive because of file names.. for these you have to use the Xbox drive and copy it to your PC HD directly and make it into an ISO and burn it out. games like "Enter the Matrix" if i remember correctly.

some old dvdrom drives have issues reading burnt discs (as opposed to retail dvd's)- like m crappty lg dvdrom drive :(

There is a samsung model (616 followed by some letter "t" i think) which when flashed with the corresponding xbox smasung drive firmware will read retail games, although people use this as an alternative to buying a proper samsung drive on ebay- i dunno if it will work in your pc although i don't see why it shouldn't

it will not work in your pc after being flashed

I belive the 616t is also better then the sd605 stock drive.

When I said 'decent DVD drive', basically any drive that will read DVD-R.

...For instance if u have a DVD burner these are ideal, Pioneer 104, for instance.

...Never need to FTP from Xbox > P.C if u use your P.C drive.

...U may need to use xISO on your P.C to read some discs, if they are originals or in ISO format, for instance.

Thats interesting as the 605 continues to amaze me, I wish I could put one in my pc. Just yesterday I was trying to get a pc backup working it wouldn't read in my liteon dvdrom or my pioneer dvdrw but when I put it in my xbox the 605 read the data right away and I just transfered it over. :)

If the 616 is that good I'm now thinking about getting one for my pc.
