ps2 microphone question

hi there. just purchased singstar amthems for ps2, comes with red & blue microphones which are working fine.
ive downloaded the xfactor karaoke sing game and karaoke stage but the red and blue microphones dont work on them, instead it asks for me to connect the usb microphone to the usb port.

does this mean these games use different microphones , if so can they be purchased anywhere?

i wouldn't of thought you needed different microphones for different games but then again you never know!
