I have a 360 with a hitachi drive. I read a guide on dismantleing the 360. I followed the guide and it was pretty easy.

I have read that i need to connect the 360 rom to a sata on a pc. Im confused about this. Im not sure if i have this on my pc, how do i check? If i do how do I connect the 360 rom to it, do I need a lead ?

I also have "Birdy Hitachi friendly Flasher with Xtreme v1.3 - v2.0 (46) All versions" I would like some help on how to use this if poss.

Thanks in advance

Don't run before you can walk m8.
Have a look on your computers motherboard. If you have sata it will look exactly the same as the socket on the 360 motherboard that you removed the Hitachi 360 drive from. If your PC does have SATA then you're almost there. Now you need to get your drive into mode B. for this there are 3 ways. Xecuter kit (or clone) Slax Live CD, or wire trick. Do some reading up and find out which way you prefer. Xecuter easiest, Slax 2nd and arguably hardest is wire trick. When you've sussed which way you want to go, post again and we'll move it along to the actual flashing.

Hitachi drives are easier than Samsung when it comes to compatability so don't worry too much. Saying that I'm fairly confident that one on SVP is regarded as being Samsung compatible as well so it's all good. The data cable as well will do fine.

Order them up then proceed to preperation.

Head over to Eurasia and get the new OPA Xtreme 7in 1 set for Hitachi Drives. This comes with full flashing instructions and has bang uptodate features like SS extraction and media detection error skip etc.

If you need a blow by blow cos you dont understand the instructions I'll go deeper but you should be O.K

There should have been 16 files inside the latest version. If you don't have all 16 in the same directory it will not proceed (well it doen't need em all but extract em all to the same directory anyway)

Im getting confused a little with my drives. Windows explorer was showing a virtual drive that I forgot about. so the 360 rom isnt being listed/found. When I plug it in and go to device manager it shows an error( ! ). Im guessing that I need to set the sata card ( VIA VT6421L SATA )to native/ide but I dont know how too...Any help here please

Are you powering up your pc with the 360 drive attached and your Xecuter adaptor button down so the drive is in Mode B?

There are some forums that allow the package but not the firmware to be posted on their sites so make sure you got the FULL release. How many files are in your .RAR?
I have e-mailed you but I don't know if it got through.

Might like to explain to others here where you went wrong so that it's not duplicated down the road m8.

o.k.

The guide i was using said that I could't use a SIL 3112 sata card, so I got a VIA VT5421 sata card. At first i thought I was finding the 360 drive, but i was really detecting a virtual drive which I forgot all about. When i removed the virtual drive I found that the 360 drive wasnt being found. So after re-installing the card and updateing its drivers and checking to see if my m/b was compatible with the card I decided to try another card. The only one I could get locally was a SIL3112. "Hey presto" it picked up the 360 drive.

I extracted the OPA v2.1 firmware to my c: drive. i was then opening command prompt and typing C:\FLASH21.BAT H 1572 and getting the missing files error..

I should have typed (and did) CD \X-LG and then FLASH21 H 0808 ( or any other 4 digits).
Anyways thats what went wrong. Im doing a samsung shortly. I think my VIA is compatible with them after I edit MTKFLASH to work with it...I hope...:round:
