Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I've gotten a BUTTLOAD of help from you guys so far and I've run into a slight snag. I travel alot and I copy off my own DVD's to watch when I'm on the road. I've been using DVD Decrypter and Any DVD on most of my movies. If these two decrypters don't work, what else would you suggest? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

possibly dvd shrink- but i'd be surprised if that could succeed where the other two have failed- are both of them up to date?
dvd decrypter is upto version 3.2.1
anydvd is 3.6.1.1
if it is a bad scratch on the disc leading to a "cyclic redundancy" error then the problemis with the disc and not the encryption removal software

Well i use DVDdecrypter and only on a very few occasions has it refused to decrypt a dvd in which case i used smartripper which worked fine.

Well, Thanks so far, I'm not getting the CRC problem, but it's not letting it decrypt the movie totally. I'll get to one of the latter VOB's, like 01_04.VOB and it won't let it go from there. What's the latest version of smartripper out there? I have an older version that I used to use to rip them to .avi to watch on my laptop and it won't even decrypt on this one movie that I'm trying. Thanks again.

What precisely are the discs you're having problems with and what error messages, if any, do you receive?

Well, the disc I was trying to rip was "The 3 Worlds of Gulliver", it's an old movie that was released on DVD in the past few years. I've had this problem with several other ones recently though, I had thought that maybe they just had encryption that DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD couldn't crack.
As for the error messages, it's the same old, can't copy from a disc that's protected/copyrighted...that sort of thing.

Silly question maybe ..... but have you tried playing the original in Power DVD or similar, for a few seconds to unlock it ?

01_04.vob.... sound like that may be around the point of the layer switch.
can you do it in iso mode and then extract the iso in iso buster or something similar (dunno of this will actually help though)

Well, I got this particular movie to rip by trying something I hadn't tried before. I disabled AnyDVD then re-enabled it with the DVD in the drive, it worked. Strange though, I haven't had to do that before, anyone know why that might cause it? Anyway, I got it to burn fine. If I have this problem anymore, I'll try the same thing and see if that fixes it. Thanks for all of your help.
