I've seen many posts with people asking different information about this.
I want to play my modified ps2 online. Is this possible?
My isp is BTOPENWORLD and I seen on their website you need a games modem for this.
This is the details:
BT Yahoo! Gaming
BT Yahoo! Broadband for games console requires combined modem/router for just £20 online.
The modem/router is £45 if ordered by phone
Does anyone know what type of modem this is. Is it possible to get it cheaper elsewhere?
When everything is all wired up correctly, is it still possible to have your ps2 and pc connected online at the same time (although obivously, the speeds would be split?)
All information on this would be great and I think it will be very useful to alot of beginners on here.

me too - I was under impression you could just plug in connection to ps2 network adapter. Is this correct ?
Also how hard is it to use backups online - ie SOCOM do u need key numbers to get online like with say Counter Strike ?
Cheers
just connect ps2 to pc with a cross over cable, make sure pc is connected to
broadband then switch on ps2 & bingo.

Is this what you have done? If I'm already using my crossover cable port with another pc, what do I need then? A network switch?
Is your playstation chipped?

i have a chipped ps2 and a non chipped 1. i was able to use my chipped one online with no prob, but i just use my non chipped one just in case. all u need is----
ps2 network adaptor - 29.99
newtwork card - 8.00
crossover cable - 5.00
u can use internet connection on both pc and ps2 without really noticing any speed difference. As for playing backups online, trying to change codes for dna seems quite challange but i suppose if u have the time it shouldnt be a prob. but i recommend u get the game already patched as i did with need for speed underground underground and it works fine. most orignal games work easy enough but twisted metal online can be a pain in the arse and fifa 2004 can be a bit dodgy aswell. hope this helps a bit

can I connect the broadband lead straight into the ps2 - or does it have to be networked to a pc ?

it depend what type of modem u ave. if u have a standard modem which just plugs into ur usb port in ur pc u have to network, but if u have a modem with a free ethernet port i think u can just plug it into ur ps2 network adapter.
Just get a switch or a router. It would be much easier then endlessly conecting your internet devices through network cables.

using a router would probaly be more expensive. my advice is to buy a cheap network card and crossover cable and network ur ps2.

Routers are only $30 and I agree with ps2wiz in the long run its much better and much easier.
cheap & easy is a network card and cross over cable. I play online like this and also have the ps2 plugged into tv card on pc. I download and surf internet while online and you never notice speed drop.
As for DNAS patching, my advise is rent the game to get code, dont use ones posted on internet cos most dont work.USA games cannot be played online on a PAL ps2 if they need DNAS patching, stick to PAL.I have patched 4 games so far and all play online perfectly.
