Yeah just bought spools of 100 Ritek G04's @ under £30 myself and reflected at paying over £100 just over a year ago!

They should be as low as CDR's I reckon by the end of the year, well 4X media anyway.

Lazza.. either you've made a typo or i need an eye test :insane: because i cant see no GO4's on there @ £30 for 100 discs? even the crappy orange overprints on there are £54 per 100.

P.S can you fix my post count/status please, I couldn't remember the email i used to register at the old board so i had to use a new one here.:bawling: Cheers.

100x g04 Ritek Landscape = £49.99 + del (£4.99 o/nite).CAREFUL!!!!

Quote from cd-rw.org...

Hi guys and girls,

I went to see Ritek at last weekend and can clarify the situation with their media now.

All "D" grade media and below will now be printed with a picture of "Mountains and streams" prior to leaving the factory - this is the media people have been overprinting for certain cheap brands. The only official brand of Ritek which is overprinted is the ARITA brand and this is A,B grade media (for example if Ritek have misprinted one of their customers discs they will overprint with Arita) ... so bottom line is this - if it is an overprinted disc with Ritek media ANYTHING other than Arita is D grade media or less!
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/22304

These are the discs sold as "Landscape" media. The media is reject, bad stock, and I personally would avoid like the plague. Ritek are putting this "Landscape" branding on discs to mark them as reject/low grade stock. Spend a little more and get the better Riteks.

I've used some of these discs (the overprinted ones, you can see the picture underneath if you look hard). Some of the media has imperfections, and I'm not talking about scratches here. You can clearly see areas where the dye hasn't been applied correctly and other imperfections. I got VERY HIGH ERROR RATES with these discs including a number of complete coasters. Really, for the sake of an extra tenner it just isn't worth it.

I'd rather have a grade-A disc from a cheaper manufacturer than these discs, seriously. When you can even get a reasonable degree of reliability from Datasafe Ritek discs (and only around 2p more a disc) why do it?

Great post, thanks for the info jase1! :)

I never knew that but I'm sure glad I do now, I've been burning some Arita overprints myself today and am positive the readability in most DVD players is nowhere near as good as a grade A G04 disc so what must the other overprints be like? http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/4/eek.gif

Now decent media has come down so much in price there are no excuses for trying to save a few pennies.

Hmmm.

The "Orange" overprint Riteks are the same "landscape" media with the extra branding applied over the top. Really, I can't recommend these.

Curious that they were mentioned really as the same store has the far better Ridata media for a penny less (which is a damn good price for Ridatas I have to say). The ones I got were manufactured in the Gigastorage plant with a Ritek G04 stamper (but I found them to be equally high quality) but having said that they're a much better buy than the orange discs.

The Arita overprints aren't too bad, but tend to be a bit scratched due to the overprinting process. The main problem, though, comes from the fact that the overprinting stuff they use is so thick it's almost like putting a label on the disc, which as I'm sure you know has a negative effect on the balancing and readability of a DVDR disc (more so than a CDR).

So, if you add that to the scratches and the fact that the orange overprints are overprinted reject stock in the first place and you have a pretty poor disc. In fact, believe it or not, in my tests more players choked on orange overprints than budget cheapo media like LongTen and AN31.

At the end of the day, Shops will sell what customers buy and that will always be the cheaper product and if it works for them fine, thats what they will buy,

it does not matter how much you push a certain product or Business.

Yeah mate I'm not criticising you, just giving my own point of view.

Has to be said though that with the Ridatas being 53p each at the same store only a fool would buy the orange overprints :)

thing is, there are now Ritek tangos about that aint overprints, though they have the exact same orange print on top. Stupid idea methinks as there has been some bad reports on the overprints, and these look exactly like them.
They are tho, 1st gen discs. Havent written any myself but have had them from other traders and they seem very good tbh.

Perhaps e-net are suring up the reputation before hitting the market with some dregs they've dug up from somewhere lolThat could be considered as libel in some quarters, but I agree exactly with what you are saying myself. :D

These days I tend to try and make sure the media I buy whether CDR or DVDR comes direct from Ritek and does not have any association with the above chumps.
