got my new 19" LCD monitor fitted, but what refresh rate should i set it to?

it has options in display settings of 60, 72, 75, 85??

BTW: its an LG L1719s 1280X1024

Check the monitor's spec sheet, but normally 60 will do fine.

for lcd's/tft it doesnt really matter, for crt's the higher the better :)

Normally 60 does the job fine LG refresh speed is good enough

As said earlier, LG is rather good at 60. So don't bother much.. :)

Does it really not matter for TFT's? How come?

I found out that a safe maximum for TFT's is 72 so thats what I set it to

On CRT's, the most annoying problem is flicker which is caused by phosphor decay. When we set the display to a refresh rate of 60Hz, for example, we actually tell it to refresh (redraw) itself 60 times per second. Increasing the refresh rate will reduce the flicker on the CRT and this makes the display (look) more stable. Depending on your vision and the video card you use (and also on the max refresh rate that the monitor supports), the max refresh rate must be set by you for the best result.

Because LCD's don't use phosphors, refresh rate setting has no effect on these monitors.
