I am trying to burn vista onto a cd so my computer can boot it when loading up since xp F**k'd up. I have installed it on another computer that had windows xp on it by putting the folder on a cd I could just double click on the .exe setup file.
The problem is when I make an iso out of the folder.
I have tried:
nero - bootable cd burner
UltraISO
MagicISO
Easyboot
and none of them seem to be booting.
and yes I have changed the boot option in the bios
(I'm not that stupid, I hope).
thanks for looking

If you donwload the beta it comes in ISO format, you can then burn with anything
Dont understand how you've ended up with a folder?

Bootable media would contain specific boot blocks or a boot loader embedded in the first couple blocks of the original ISO. This boot information does not appear as files. If someone just copies the files off of the disc instead of copying the entire disc as a single image the boot information is lost.
Everything you appear to have download has already been screwed up. You need to locate a real bootable Vista ISO image.

Microsoft has designed the original Vista ISO to be tamperproof to protect the integrity of the file.
Once the original ISO has been breached, it will not be functional if reconstructed.
I have personally attempted to add applicable system audio and video drivers to the ISO.
The resulting DVD disc burned from the ISO created by UltraISO was bootable but it would not install Vista. It requested an original copy of the ISO.
Luckily I had saved the original ISO and was able to burn a copy for installation.
The NFO files that sometimes accompany Vista Bit Torrent Downloads always warn that NUKERS and LAMERS do not tamper with the ISO or it won't work.
The ISO file should be the original Microsoft creation. Nothing added, nothing taken away.

Sounds like you Unrared your ISO twice. Don't do this. Use dvddecrypter or other ISO writing program. In Nero, its under you file menu: write image....
