There was apparently a "False posative" (or something) virus detected by AGV on FFDshow.
This is documented via a google search and apparently it's not a virus.

Anyhow, I'm not running AGV, I run F-PROT and I'm getting major virus readings reported from FFDshow, interestingly it's not the same virus as is documented but a different one (I'm guessing the definition is similar).

I'm getting W32/Downloader.ABKR

There seems to be no report of this virus when I've googled that. F-Prot has deleted all suspect files,,,,, but I really love FFDshow.

So does anyone else have it installed with any warnings from your scanner, is it a false alarm or not do you think?

Thanks for looking in

Dan

IIRC it was a false positive, earlier this month and AVG updated it's virus definitions to correct it.

What version of AVG are you using ... and have you updated since early June ?

Using F-Prot not AVG. Virus definitions are set to update every 30 mins and I must say F-Prot is one of the most frequently updated A/V packages I've ever seen.

As I say though I did see the info relating to the false posative and this is a different named virus

W32/Downloader.ABKR

The reported False posative is

Downloader/Zlob.anx

On the surface they look quite similar, bur who knows?

It's deleted now but a system scan is showing it present twice in system restore.

Cheers for looking in Phil
