Kyle, you might want to take that down for a bit and edit out part of his IP address.

Oops, fixed.
I knew there was something I forgot other than the name/address...

was he using peer guardian?Very good point that for ALL BT or P2P users.

Must admit I'd heard of this prog but not bothered to use it, seeing more posts like this just made me change my mind and d/l it quickly.

After all it is FREE and does a good job going by what users say:- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tim.leonard1/methlabs.htm

Could also block IP ranges using one of your hopefully already installed firewalls.

Can you get in crap for simply having something available though? Because unless you are one one of the original seeders then even with a share rating of say 3 you might never have uploaded an entire movie and even if so probably not to the same person.

In fact if it were an AVI and you never uploaded the header you wouldn't have even uploaded something that could even be partially watched.

yes i think so as you are still intending to share copyrited material with people

Bear in mind the isp letter involved here was from Comcast in the USA who are not exactly popular right now with admiting to monitoring their customers a/c's with a view to helping these authorities out.

I think like you say they would be pushing it right now to prosecute BT users compared to say a Kazaa user which is a lot easier to link together the pieces.

are they going for downloaders or uploaders or both?

if using p2p

Everyone on BT is both an uploader and a downloader.

One would imagine with BT they would target seeders first. Target seeders = less seeders = lots of people stuck with torrents and no seeders.

i just tried peer gaurdian but it was running like 95% of the system resources- finally got protowall working dunno if it has the same coverage of bad ip's but is running only at around 1-2%

cheers mate- do you use blacklist manager with it?

or is that antip2p list comprehensive enough?

Neo
04-10-2004, 03:30 PM
Well, if you want to use that list with Protowall then open it and replace the list in antip2p.p2p

I'm trying to get Protowall to work, but it keeps telling me that "protowall.sys is not loaded" even though I used the little utillity included with it to install it.

which driver did you install there's one set for win 2000, win 2003 and xp- i completely missed the xp and tried 2000 and kept getting that error, did with xp and it worked fine used this guide: http://www.bluetack.co.uk/pwhelp/

choose "how to use protowall" and then "install driver"

PG is a stand alone program that has a list of 'bad' ip's which are stop if they try to connect to your computer in any way
